What is on the other end?
Simple book cover, but fits the story well.

SUMMARY (book description based on GoodReads):
Ashlyn McVean doesn't believe in fairy tales. That is, until Ashlyn is thrown into the crosshairs of grudges her grandmother created long ago. After finding out she is one of two people able to cross between faerie realms, Ashlyn is faced with trying to understand her abilities, along with navigating a new relationship with her boyfriend, Liam. As if being on a centuries old hit list and dealing with crazed pixies isn't enough, her new abilities mean trouble for Liam. Knowing her new life puts everyone she loves in danger, Ashlyn must decide what's most important in her life between friends, family, love, and ultimately, realms.

LOCATION/SETTING:
Initially set in modern day Ohio. But the characters traveled to Ireland to visit some relatives. Near the end of the story, the main character is taken to a fae world.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
This is the story of Ashlyn. She is a changeling, plus she is half human, half fae. It seems that she possesses otherworldly powers that she inherited from her grandmother, a fae warrior/assassin. Ashlyn has black irises and they change colors, She couldn't remember the first few years of her life. She is allergic to eggs. She has a love-hate relationship with her grandmother Memaw.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
Ashlyn father died at the beginning of the story. Upon realizing that she was never to see her father again, she went hysterical and actually pinned a paramedic against a vehicle. She was stopped by her grandmother. Ashlyn feels that her grandmother is hiding something from her. Until one night, she dreampt that her grandmother was not the old and wrinkly woman that she is, but gorgeous woman no older than twenty, who knows how to use a bow and arrow. Near the end of her dream, her grandmother (in the body of a young woman) gave her a necklace. Upon waking up, she found the necklace in her pocket. Then she decided to go to Ireland with her best friend Jamie to meet her relatives. There she meets Liam. The two eventually fall in love. Liam confided to Ashlyn that his brother was taken by a bad faerie. Initially, Ashlyn did not want to believe Liam. But then it turned out that her best friend Jaime was actually a pixie, who was sent out by Ankou (the bad, bad faerie) to kidnap her. In Ireland, Ashlyn learned that she is a "bridger" - someone who can go to the faerie world, and that her grandmother is some sort of fae warrior, who angered Ankou. Now, Ankou wants to have Ashlyn to  use her to create a new breed of changelings. To complicate things even more, Liam became her protector, which means that they would have this physical connection - if Ashlyn gets hurt, Liam will get hurt too. If Ashlyn dies, Liam dies too. And if Ashlyn was to be given immortality, Liam would die. Now that she knows about her true heritage, she must decide who and what is important to her.

LOVE:
I love the award-winning flirtations between Liam and Ashlyn. They delivered the sweetest lines ever in the history of YA. I also love that Liam was not portrayed as perfect. I love that he reacts like a normal boy would under the circumstances. Yes, he was a jerk at one point in the story, but I think that's what makes this story realistic.

NO LOVE:
I think that there are just too many details about Memaw and Ashlyn's heritage. Don't get me wrong, I do like a bit of a background on stories, but in this book, I was bit overwhelmed. I guess that's the one thing I did not like about the book. All the rest? Ah-may-zing.

FAVORITE CHARACTER:
I like Memaw. Memaw's strong, tough, and may even appear heartless at times, but beneath that exterior, Memaw is a marshmallow. She loves Ashlyn, and she's just doing her duty to protect those she loves. Tough love, baby... Tough love.

FAVORITE LINE:
"You still don't love me?"
I laughed. "You don't even know me yet."
"Then why don't you let me?"
MUSINGS:
The story is definitely not boring! It is so fast paced that I didn't feel that the pages were flying. The story is also unpredictable. The reader would not know what to expect. I was shocked at some parts of the story. The writing? Not verbose. Very easy to read and understand. At times, I even found myself laughing at the funny dialogue.
