She started her first book at sixteen, writing in long notebooks on train rides in India. While reading My Boyfriend Merlin, she recommends pajamas first and a pumpkin spice anything for taste.

In Merlin’s Castle 

Thank you for having me on the blog today! I love the name. I would certainly call myself a fairy tale nerd. It’s all Disney’s fault of course. And this great book by Robin McKinley called Beauty.

I’ve always loved retellings. I cannot tell you how many versions of Beauty and the Beast I own. In fact, My Boyfriend Merlin came from a culmination of years of fairy tale fanaticism.

So, to have a little fun, I’ve taken the cast of My Boyfriend Merlin and put them in the roles of my favorite fairy tale (Beauty and Beast).

A little background: My Boyfriend Merlin is a YA Arthurian in which Merlin goes to high school to recruit candidates to pull the sword from the stone—one of them his girlfriend.

There are three main characters- Arriane, aka Ryan our nice girl protagonist. Matt, aka Merlin, our hero in a cape. Lastly, there is Vane, hero’s brother and generally, the villain.

Arriane’s (aka Ryan’s) role in B&B: Belle. No surprise here. Ryan’s song - Alice by Avril Lavigne – Why? Being a fairy tale junkie, this beautiful moody piece perfectly fits Ryan’s struggle.

Merlin (aka Matt) and Vane’s role in B&B: Beast and Gaston. Ok, there is a love triangle. And I think you’ll be surprised who falls into which role- Beast and Gaston. But see if you can guess from the character’s songs.

Matt’s song - Superman (It’s Not Easy) by Five for Fighting –Why? In My Boyfriend Merlin, Merlin’s alter-ego is Matt. This is a huge struggle in the book for Merlin…does he want to be the “Most Powerful Wizard in the World” or does he want to be plain-old Matt?

Vane’s song - Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional – Why? Vane’s deliciously tortured. And he just knows he’s right.

Gia’s role in B&B: Mrs. Potts or in Robin McKinley’s version, the sisters. Gia and Ryan start out as rivals but end up as friends.

Grey’s role in B&B: Belle’s father. Grey is Ryan’s brother. Someone has to ground the hero. In My Boyfriend Merlin, this is her family.

And those are the main characters. Hope you enjoyed it! As a bonus I’ve done a mock up of the cast.

Sure, the world has been crazy ever since the sword and the stone fell out of the sky like a meteor. And Ryan's a bit freaked about the scary shadow-dragon trying to burn her alive. And now, Matt--er, Merlin--needs her and her brother to leave home because they are Candidates to pull the sword.
But despite gruesome gargoyles, a new world of magic, and the guy driving her crazy, Ryan knows that family is everything. Will Merlin sacrifice hers to save the world? Will she be able to stop him?
