"Waiting On" Wednesday (5)

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event,
hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
that spotlights upcoming releases that I'm eagerly anticipating.

Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
Expected publication: January 10th 2012 by Harcourt Children's Books

The highly anticipated sequel to Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side.
It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

So now they're married huh? Explain again how this book, which involves a married couple, and probably doing married things, belongs to the young adult category. Just a thought. Anyway, that's just my concern. I still love Lucius and Jessica, and I will surely read this sequel. It's been over a year since I read Jessica's Guide and I think I may have to re-read it before the second book comes out in January 2012.

I tried to read Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark side a couple of years ago and never got into it. Should I give it another chance?

Also, agreed about the fact that this book takes place when they're married and yet is being marketed as a YA novel. It's kind of a slippery slope.

I still haven't read the first one even though I've owned it for well over a year. I'm glad you are excited for this second novel. Great pick.

Love the name of your blog by the way!

Hmm, well if she's still a teenager I suppose I can let the married thing slide... after all Bella and Edward are married in Breaking Dawn and I don't see that it shouldn't be shelved in YA with the rest of the series.

I know my co-worker LOVED the first in this series, I thought it was okay but I'll still probably read the sequel so we can talk about it.
