Guest Blogger: Hayley of The Fable Faerie

Our guest today is the girl behind the book blog The Fable Faerie! Please welcome Hayley! I'm so happy Hayley agreed to be the first ever book blogger to guest post on The Fairytale Nerd!

My name is Hayley, and I have a passion for reading YA books. I live in Toronto and endure the harsh Canadian winters yearly. Apart from reading I love animals, especially reptiles. I currently own 4 leopard gecko's and a cat ( I know it quite a lot). Most nights I have 6 living things sleeping in my room :P
I am VERY gullible, my parents love to tell me things that couldn't possilbly be true so I will say my apparently funny "really", every time it gets me, and every time they laugh. I love going to book stores even if I'm not buying anything (most times I do), I just love being there. So far out of the books I have read Shiver by Maggie Steifvater is by far my favourite.
When I grow up I plan on being some type of scientist, the type changes all the time. But right now I'm into forensic science, I'll probaly go with that one since I don't have much time left until I go to university.
I started this blog as a way to share my opinions on books that I have read whether I liked them or not. I hope to enlighten people on books they may never have picked up, so they can also enjoy them. But my main goal is to just make a fun enjoyable blog that people with find intersting and helping.
Favourite colour: Green
Favourite bands: Three Days Grace, Escape the Fate, Breaking Benjamin,Skillet

Hayley is here to talk about her all time favorite series, The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Steifvater!

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

My favourite all time series ( so far) would have to be The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. Usually I'm not one to re-read a book/series but in this case I did just so that everthing could be fresh in my mind when I read Forever. If your one of the few people who have not read this amazing series by Maggie Steifvater, you should it is so worth it and I can promise you that you will at least like if not love it! The series is about a girl named Grace who has a strong connection to the wolves who live in the forest behind her house, one in particular stands out, the one with yellow eyes. The wolf with yellow eyes turns out to be a boy named Sam who has been watching Grace from the forest. The werewolves in this series only tun when the temperature in cold, and each year each wolves gets less and less time as a human in the summer and stays a wolve longer.

What I love so much about this series is the way that Maggie Steifvater writes! Her writing is almost poetic, and it makes gain a strong connection to the story she tells and the characters in the story. The Series is also very deep, each caracter has their own mental issue that they all have to over come, which I feel adds character to the series and gives it meaning. The werewolves mythology is also 100% unique and very refreshing. I would have to say that it's my favourite mythology I have ever seen. There is also so much more to the story than just romance and werewolves and mental issues, but I don't want to say much about it because someone who hasn't read the series may read this. Something also really neat about the book, is that the fonts in each book are coloured in Shiver it's blue, Linger green, and Forever red.

I strongly recommend this series the everyone, I think that it contains elements that everybody can connect to or find interest in.

Thanks Hayley!

I have read the first two books in the series... and yes, I have to agree that the writing in this series is lyrical. The first book was amazing, but the second one was kind of dragging for me. I meant to read the last book, but somehow I never got around to it. Maybe because I was a little disappointed with Linger. But your guest post made me miss Sam and Grace, so I'll probably continue reading the series!
