[Day Twelve of 31] Giveaway + Author Interview: Alexia Purdy, author of Interim Blue

Hi everyone! Alexia Purdy is back for an interview, and this time, she is giving away TEN eCopies of her book Interim Blue! Yes folks, this giveaway is international!

Living in Las Vegas, NV! Trying to fit in the writing in between taking care of my four kids and working as an RN. I read more than I write but enjoy both extremely. I can only write while listening to music and late at night works best. Urban Fantasy and Poetry are my specialities and extreme loves!***

Hi! Welcome to the Fairytale Nerd! So, how are you today?
I’m doing absolutely wonderful. Thanks for having me.

So, tell me about your book
It’s my first novel Interim Blue (The Teleen Trilogy #1) . It deals with Faeries of course! Shade has had some special powers her whole life but one day she stumbles into the world of Faerie. Here she is chosen by the Seelie Faerie queen to undertake a quest to acquire a powerful water magic from the Santiran fountains that only she, being half fey (as she ends up discovering), can obtain. Along the way she meets Faerie warriors of different fey races who either help her or impede her journey. Some of them being the Teleen- a dying faerie race who wield blue fire and lightning-like electricity along their skin. Available on Amazon.com, BN.com and Smashwords.com as an ebook and through Createspace and Amazon.com as a paperback

Why fairies?
I have always been fascinated in them. They can be mischievous or kind, can come in many forms and the fascination with having their world existing alongside ours is something of an obsession to me.

When and where were you the happiest?
I am the happiest when I am writing. I was thrilled to announce to my coworkers and family that Interim Blue was live on Amazon.com! The amazing worlds that swirl up in my head are so fascinating that it really is the only escapism I have! Otherwise, in the real world, hehe, playing with my four kids keeps me quite happy- deliriously happy!

If you were given the power to be invisible, what is the first thing you would do?
I would want to sneak into shows. Concerts, musicals, movies, etc. All the ones I would ever want to see without having to cough up all the money to see them.

Who is your real life hero? How about in books?
My real life hero, hmm. I would have to say that J.K. Rowling’s life has been an inspiration to me. I started from nothing too and have worked hard to keep my own head above water. In a book, I have to say that Scarlett from Gone with the Wind is my biggest hero. She fought so many adversaries and went through so much pain and suffering. Yet she prevailed, even in the end, when all seemed lost, she still trudges ahead.

Name three of your favorite books.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell-of course, see above!!
Tully by Paullina Simons- Epic, have to read it every two years or so.
All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris - I love the Sookie Stackhouse series. It’s so versatile and Charlaine spins her tails effortlessly with so much fun in each bite! This one is one of my favorites from the series.

Boxers or briefs?
Boxer briefs. Best of both worlds!

Morning or night?
Night. I hate mornings with every sliver of my soul.

Roll on or stick?
Stick. Life’s too messy for a roll-on

All or nothing?
Always all. If you biff it up, so what. Get right back up and try again.

Blind or deaf?
I’d rather be deaf if it had to happen. I have earplugs to sleep. I think the world is a little over stimulating anyway with so much noise.

The man who loves you or the man you love?
The man I love. I don’t know, it seems more me.

Viral epidemic or nuclear explosion?
Viral epidemic. I’m an RN so I think I could deal with that more realistically. Nuclear explosion, um nope.

What is your next project?
I am currently working on the second book of the Teleen Trilogy called Ashes and Embers due out Thanksgiving weekend 2011. After that I have a post-apocalyptic vampire hunter trilogy in the works, first book due out February 2012 and it’s called The Reign of Blood (Book #1) and a Poetry Anthology due out March 2012. All which I will be self publishing too.

Interim Blue
by Alexia Purdy
Shade is just trying to graduate high school. Just another ordinary teenager with some quirky talents. One day, the bothersome voices she sometimes hears in her head bring her to a chance meeting with a powerful faerie warrior named Jack. He wields electrical currents and blue fires along his skin. Joining him, she enters the mysterious, frightening and magical world of Faerie, where nothing is what it really seems to be.
Shade is selected by the Seelie Queen to fulfill a quest to obtain a liquid magic that could aid the Guildrin Court of Faeries in an ongoing war against the evil Unseelie Queen and her treacherous Lonares soldiers. Around every corner and across breathtaking landscapes of the world of Faerie that exists alongside our ever so mundane world, Shade grows along with her magic and meets some of the most powerful warriors Faerie has to offer. Shade battles evil dryads, conniving Teleen guards and challenges on her life with every step. In a world where nothing is taken for granted or underestimated, Shade discovers that she might not be as weak as she or others may have perceived.

Fill out the form for a chance to win one of TEN eBook copies of Interim Blue!
