Book Recap: Losing Lila by Sarah Alderson

Cover Inspection:
I have to say that I am liking these Lila Covers,
especially the red shoes in the first one.

SUMMARY (book description based on GoodReads):

Alex and Lila are on the run, desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the Unit, which somehow is managing to track their every move. Whilst Alex is determined to keep Lila safe and her ability secret at any cost, Lila’s only thought is of finding a way back to California so that she can rescue her brother and mother from the military base where they’re being held.

Struggling to control both her growing power and her deepening feelings for Alex, Lila decides the time has finally come to stop running and start fighting. Together with Alex, Demos, and the people she’s come to think of as family, Lila plans not just to save her brother and mother, but to completely destroy the Unit and everything it stands for.

But the plan requires Lila to return alone to California, make friends with the enemy, and to risk losing everything – Alex, her family, and even her life.

LOCATION/SETTING:
It has been 8 days since Alex and Lila got rid of the Unit that was trailing them. They ended up in Mexico City, and that's where the story opens.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
The main character is and the story is still narrated by Lila. She is still the witty, sarcastic Lila that we know in the first book.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
Long story short, Lila and the others rescue her brother Jack and her mother from the Unit.

LOVE:
This is one sex-ey book. There were already hot scenes between Alex and Lila in the first chapter, mind you. And Alex kept taking his top off! Goodness, what's a girl to do?! The first chapter was also filled with adrenaline! Alex and Lila were on the run! Really, this book is exciting! (Note the number of exclamation points used in one paragraph.)

Its fun reading about Lila's thoughts - no holds barred. She thinks about how much she hates Rachel, how hot she is for Alex, how desperate she is to find her family. Even her internal monolgue is entertaining. All those paragraphs containing her innermost thoughts and feelings are contemplative and at the same time humorous, unlike other narrations where the monologue just drags on and on.

All the characters in the story are likeable, especially Nate and Suki. The scenes with those two were hilarious! It provided the much needed humor when things were getting a bit too serious.

That Alex is just so... Ohhh. All I know is that, I want one. To go, please! And I found it really entertaining that it was Lila who wanted to jump Alex's bones, and it was Alex who wanted to protect Lila's honor. Which leads me to another point I loved. Losing Lila was candid about teen sexuality. It does not shy away from fact that girls get horny too. And that there are boys who are in fact honorable enough to control themselves.

NO LOVE:
Losing Lila is pure LOVE. Loved every single page, every single sentence in that page, every single word in that sentence, every single letter in that word. Lila is love.

FAVORITE CHARACTER:
Alex. He's such a gentleman. And he was so patient with Lila.

FAVORITE SCENE:
‘Hey,’ I said.

‘Hey,’ he answered, rubbing his eyes. ‘What’s going on?’

‘Oh, just Alex half naked, that’s all,’ Suki smirked.

Nate sat bolt upright. ‘I missed it?’ He sighed and lay back down. ‘Oh well, I’ve seen him completely naked already.’

MUSINGS:
O my... It was fun reading Losing Lila! This book is such a pleasure to read. It has action - explosions, robbery. There is a good and balanced combination of SciFi, romance, and humor. There was still a lot of scenes where the reader would encounter people with special abilities. I also found myself laughing because of the loaded comments of Suki and Nate. I just love those two. And of course, there romance between Alex and Lila is just so sweet, hot, and sexy. I couldn't ask for more. I thought that Hunting Lila was a really good and entertaining book, but Sarah Alderson just outdid herself with Losing Lila.
