It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

The book/s I have read the past week, and the book/s I plan to read throughout the week.
hosted by Shiela at Book Journey

Last week, I finished reading:

It was good. Actually, it was really good, just a little tiring. It's a stressful experience. Initially, I thought that it's just going to be just another dystopian story. But I was wrong. There's so much more to it than having an authoritarian government and rebellion. This book tackled issues such as feminism, virginity or purity, and lesbianism. And the suspense in this book is to die for. I applaud the author for sprinkling the details evenly from beginning to end, making the book suspenseful. It kept me guessing. It was unpredictable.

Moving on...

I tried to pick up Treachery of Beautiful Things by Ruth Frances Long for the second time. But like the first time, I did not to finish it. To me, it was sort of... dull. (But I was impressed by the writing! It's beautifully written. That just cannot be denied.) BUT it seemed too much like the other fairy tale / fairy books I've read. I felt like I was just wasting my time. So, this is me deciding to set that particular book aside - for good. I QUIT!

*puts Treachery of Beautiful Things on the DNF pile*

Next week, I plan to read:

  • Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta

I have been wanting to read this book, but there were just so many other books that compelled me so it's been pushed down, down, down the to be read pile. But now, I've decided to pick it up and read it since I have been hearing so many good things about this book, and because the third and final book will be released next year.
