For the first ever Character Once Over, let us examine a male vampire. (Nope, absolutely not Edward Cullen. After all, we are all very familiar with his stalker/controlling ways.) Anyway, let me present...

What he looks like:

What he is basically:
Lucius Vladescu is a vampire prince. So he is basically born and raised to get what he wants, when he wants it. Nevertheless, his training with his uncles proved to be very difficult. While reading the book, I got the feeling that he was sort of tortured as part of his training to be the vampire ruler. Apparently, vamps hate whiners. Despite this, he is an absolute gentleman.

How does he speak:
Lucius speaks articulately and eloquently - manners, grammar, usage, and all. He speaks like the vampire royalty that he is. He also means what he says, and says what me means. There were times in the book when I would have liked him to shut up actually.

What he wants to achieve:
What he wants is for Jessica to marry him to fulfill a pact between the two vampire races/covens/whatever. That's him main purpose in coming to America. He is all about obligation. He doesn't care if he loves Jessica, at first. But then, the guy fell in love...

How does he get what he wants to achieve:
He's a boy. And what he did in the story is what any guy would do to get the girl. He courted Jessica. He came off as strong and imposing at first, but he mellowed eventually.

What does he do when faced with problems:
He keeps it to himself. He never wants to be seen as weak and needy.

What do other characters think of him:
Well, while in the US, the girls see him as hot. The guys see him as a threat. In Romania, however, he is feared and respected. He is seen as this powerful vampire king to be. Everybody, except maybe the elders, bow to him.

What is his station in life:
Vampire royalty. Rich. Handsome. Powerful.

What is expected from him:
The vampire people expect a lot from him. I imagined his life in Romania to be inside a pressure cooker. It's a wonder Lucius lived through it without exploding. Like I said earlier, he is born and is being trained to be a ruler of the dark and dangerous kind. He is expected to be ruthless.
