[Day Five of 31 Days] Signed Paperback Giveaway + Author Interview: C.C. Jackson, author of Stay

C.C. Jackson, author of Stay is visiting The Fairytale Nerd for an author interview! I have read Stay, and my review will be posted sometime next week. And of course... there is a giveaway! This time it's international! So rejoice international kids! This is your chance to win a SIGNED PAPERBACK of STAY BY C.C. JACKSON.

I am C.C. Jackson, I am an Indie Writer and the author of Stay, a paranormal romance novel for young adults.

In case you were wondering, I have been married to an awesome guy for 13 years. I have three not so little boys. They range in age from 11 to 19. They have been my biggest inspiration in my writing. From watching the three of them and their friends grow up, I have been able to dream up all sorts of wonderful things.

I love reading. I would spend my entire life with my nose in a book if I could. I am partial to romance and suspense, but I will read almost anything.

I hate to clean, especially the dishes. My husband is a way better cook than me. I am a recovering Coca Cola addict. I crave it ALL the time, but I am trying to avoid it.

I love yoga and I love to do anything outdoors. We do a lot of fishing, hiking, and camping. Of course every time that we go camping, I say never gain. We haven't had much luck with camping but we keep trying.

I like all types of music, but I am usually the last one to discover new stuff. Maybe you guys can help me out with that. I love Boys Like Girls, Fall Out Boy, Greenday, anything like that really.

I rarely watch TV, but I make an exception for True Blood and sometimes for American Idol. It's not that I don't approve of watching TV, it's because I can never get on one. There is usually a game being played or a football game being watched on them. Maybe that's why I read so much.

I am so excited to be able to say that Stay is available in e-book format, as well as paper back. Rose, By Another Name- Book 2 of The Callie Rose Novels should be available around the middle of September. I have been working so hard lately to have it ready. My house and my husband have truly suffered, but he is such a trooper. I am so thankful for everyone's support in this, especially my sister Shannon for being my biggest critic and standby editor. She doesn't miss a thing.

Stay is my first book to be published online, or anywhere else for that matter. I am so proud of it. I hope that you all like it too.

Callie is the main character and the book is about all that she goes through to discover her true identity and then to live up to the person that she was always meant to become. I don't want to give to much away, but it is magical, and full of action and romance.***

You can stalk her at Twitter, Facebook, or her blog.

Welcome to The Fairytale Nerd! How are you today?
Thanks so much. I’m doing great and I am so excited to be able to take part in 31 Days of Fairy.

So for the first question, tell me about your book.
Stay is the story of a young girl named Callie who gets yanked out of her house in the middle of the night only to find herself in a strange underground world. It’s in this underground world that she discovers that she is actually a fairy and has been hidden among humans to protect her from some folks that meant to do her harm. She also learns that she is destined to become queen of the fairy world but the current queen has a very serious problem with that.
After tragedy strikes, Callie has to learn to deal with the struggles of life and love on her own. She meets two gorgeous guys and some great new friends along the way. Her new friends give her a taste of what it’s really like to be a fairy and Callie has to decide if she wants to make a stand for her rightful place on the throne or if she wants to walk away and leave it all behind.

Why fairies?
Aside from being beautiful creatures for the most part, I have always loved how mischievous fairies can be. They are known to be helpful at times, but they also seem to have a wild streak that has always made me laugh.

What is the message (from your books) that you want to convey to your readers?

I want my readers to know that they can be strong, independent women (or men), no matter what. I want them to know that they have the power to overcome any obstacle in their lives and come out on top.

What is the best part about being a writer? The worst?
The best part of being a writer is that I get to share the silly stories that go on in my mind with the rest of the world, while at the same time I am able to help empower someone through my words.
The worst part of being a writer to me is the struggle to get your book out there where people can actually read it.

When and where are you the happiest?
I am happiest when the weather is warm and the sun is shining. I love the beach. There is just something magical about the beautiful blue ocean and the gentle breezes. It just makes me feel so good.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love to be able to snap my fingers and have my house be clean like in Mary Poppins, then I could devote more time to the things I love, like writing.

What is your greatest extravagance?
I’m a pretty down to earth person, so I guess I would have to say travel is my greatest extravagance. I love to immerse myself in other cultures. I especially like small towns that are full of local artists and craftsman.

Who is your hero in real life? What about in books?
My dad has always been my hero in real life. I wouldn’t be the woman that I am today without his guidance and support. He molded me into a fearless woman who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants in life.

My literary hero would have to be Jo March from Little Women. Sometimes I think that we lived parallel lives. She’s strong and independent. She loves to read and write. She cares deeply for her family. She is definitely a woman to be admired.

The man who loves you or the man you love?
I think that it’s nearly impossible to be happy if you love someone that doesn’t love you back. That just seems like a very lonely existence, so I will choose someone who loves you. It’s seems like it would be pretty easy to fall in love with someone who truly who loves you too.

Hugs or kisses?
I will have to choose hugs. I have spent too many years working as a nurse. I’m afraid that it’s made me a bit of a germophobe.

Super strength or super intelligence?
I like this one. I would definitely choose super intelligence. It would be so fun to be able to figure out some of life’s mysteries.

Viral epidemic or nuclear explosion?
I changed my answer to this one a few times. I think I will choose viral epidemic. At least with a virus there is always a chance of a cure or vaccine, plus there would be a great deal less impact on the environment.

All or nothing?
I’ll take it all. Nothing seems like a tough spot to be in.

Deaf or blind?
Deaf, I can’t imagine a world without color. It affects me in so many ways. The blues of the ocean calm me, while the lush green forest takes my breath away. I don’t think I could take it if I were completely blind.

What's your next project?
I am working very hard to finish up the next book in the Callie Rose series. It’s called Rose, By Another Name. In the second book, Callie’s friend Jenna searches for truth in her past while Callie fights to keep her friends together. They will have to face several demons from their former lives before they can start their new life in Petrona. Look for it this fall in e-book and paperback.

Thank you so much!

Look! Look! Stay has a new book cover! I think it's absolutely gorgeous!
Stay
by C.C. Jackson
Callie is shocked when she is ripped from her home in the middle of the night. She is taken to a city that she never knew existed only to find that she has a strange connection to her sexy captor. To top it all off, he tries to convince her that she is not even human. She learns that she is actually a fairy. Not just any fairy, but a fairy who has been destined to become queen of the fairies. The only problem is that the current queen is a cruel tyrant and Callie will have to fight for the title that she was meant for. She is not completely convinced that this is a life that she wants to live. She would love nothing more than to go back to being the normal human girl that she always thought that she was. When tragedy strikes, Callie finds that she no longer knows who she can trust. She must learn to survive on her own in a harsh underground world. She finds herself dealing with the struggles of life and love for the first time. Two gorgeous guys, a bunch of new friends, and a whole new world. Will it be more than she can bear?
