Book Recap: Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

Cover Inspection:
Fits the story well as most of the scenes revolve around the field.
And doesn't this cover make you wonder what is underneath that guy's t-shirt?

SUMMARY (book description based on GoodReads):
What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though - she leads them as the captain and quarterback on her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that's just fine. LOCATION/SETTING:
Modern day Tennessee.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
The main character in this book is Jordan. She is a high school senior, and the captain of the varsity football team. Her father is a professional football player, so they are wealthy. However, he does not really approve of Jordan's love for football as he believes that it is very dangerous for girls. Jordan is a tomboy, has never kissed a guy, and a member of the no boyfriend since birth club. Nevertheless, she has tons of male friends, most of them are her team mates. They respect her, and take care of her like a sister.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
Jordan is the star player of her high school football team. But then Ty arrived and made the try outs, and so she then feels threatened. There is also the fact that Ty is a Chace Crawford lookalike, and her girl hormones and acting up, and she begins to see Ty in a different way - one that would impede her chances of getting in her college of choice.

LOVE:
What I love most about this book is its humor. Jordan's voice is hilarious! Laugh out loud funny, that's what this book is. I also love the the fact that Jordan is a tomboy and her friendly and easy interaction with her guy friends. I find it really cute. Moreover, I like that Jordan is close with her brother. They can talk about anything, even boys and kissing. Of course, there's Henry, the best friend. I adore Henry. He's sweet and funny and protective.

NO LOVE:
Ty. He's strange and scary. He may be hot and a Chace Crawford look alike, but he's controlling, possessive, and more emotional than Jordan. I truly think there is something wrong with him. Anyway, I didn't like the fact that Henry avoided Jordan. I get that he wanted to preserve their friendship, but I got frustrated with him a lot of times in the book. There are things that are worth taking risks for - and Jordan is one of them.

FAVORITE CHARACTER:
I love Henry, the best friend. He has been in love with Jordan forever, and would do anything for her. He's not afraid to act silly around Jordan. And Jordan relies on him for emotional support. What they have is beautiful.

FAVORITE LINE:
It’s not that guys aren’t interested in me, because they are, it’s that most of the guys I know are either:
  1. Shorter than me;
  2. Pansies;
  3. On my team;
  4. All of the above.
MUSINGS:
I rarely read contemporary YA romances. But I am glad I read this one. It's a very light, fun, and a very entertaining read. It's short, and you would probably finish it in one sitting. However, I believe that this kind of thing (a girl joining a football team) is unrealistic. I mean, whether I like it or not, men are physically stronger than women on the average. And a high school girl, no matter how tall and strong she is, would be murdered on the football field, considering that football is a contact sport. I agree with Jordan's father on this point. But then again, if a girl is really THAT good, and is at par with the boys, why not? (Plus, this is fiction.) This aspect is what made this book cute. Jordan's method of relaxation is hanging out with the boys, and playing football. This is where she can be herself. This is her dream.
