Melissa Pearl is the author of the YA Paranormal Romance THE TIME SPIRIT TRILOGY. She went indie in November 2011 with the first book in the series, Golden Blood. Hi. I’m Elle Casey, a writer who in her spare time does lawyer stuff. I’d love to be writing fiction full time, so please, become a fan! I need you! Someday I hope we meet so I can give you a hug. Seriously. I’ll do it.
Okay, more about me. I’ve been reading since I was 4, writing since I was, well, 4. Mostly little things … like my name. “Mommy”. “Daddy”. “Linus” (that was my cat at the time). I swear, my mom still has some of this earlier work.
Fast forward to junior high. My buddy Kim and I had this notebook we would take turns writing notes to each other in, trading it back and forth between classes. It was decorated with stickers and designs done in paint pen. We used it to chat back and forth, gossip about teachers, boys, etc. It was IMing and texting, 25 years before that stuff was even invented. We were so ahead of that curve, it wasn’t even funny.
I started writing a romance novel in this notebook for my friend Kim, who had an unrequited crush on this guy named Kevin. Each day she’d beg me for a new chapter. The life I created for her in our notebook far exceeded the enjoyment she was receiving in the real world. But like all good stories, it had to come to an end. That happened when she dropped the notebook in a puddle on the way to school one day.
Fast forward to adulthood. Two years ago I threw all caution to the wind, checked out of corporate life, and moved the family to southern France where I now live with my husband, three children and dog, surrounded by vineyards, ancient Roman ruins, and wonderful, warm people I am proud to call friends. I still have a work life where I do my lawyering thing, writing contracts and agreements and all kinds of legal mumbo jumbo. I teach English to foreign learners. I blog. I email. I write humorous essays that no agent wants anything to do with because I don’t have a “platform”.
You want to know what I think about platforms? Platforms are for shoes and public pools with really deep deep ends, people. I decided last year that no agent and no publisher is going to decide for me whether I sell my books or not. I decided to go the e-publishing route that so many before me have already taken. (Thank you, pioneers!) And guess what … I’ve got readers! Yay me!
Fast forward to now. I finished my first novel, Wrecked and published it in January. February saw the launch of my second book The Changelings, part of a 4-book YA Fantasy series called War of the Fae. The second book in the series Call to Arms was published the first week of March and the third book is scheduled to be launched at the end of March. Phew! I’ve been busy.

I'm a Contemporary Fantasy and YA writer - author of THE MAYFAIR MOON and DIRTY EDEN. I'm a mother, werewolf & zombie fanatic, book addict and a happy hermit obsessed with the Universe. Oh, and AMC's "The Walking Dead".
I started my first novel at the age of thirteen and have been writing something ever since. Generally, I love characters in life and on paper. I pay attention to people, especially those whose personalities make them different from the rest of us: the drug addict roaming the Laundromat that talks to himself, the young, inattentive mother in the park with the meanest kid on the playground - (the entire cast of 'Swamp People') - characters fascinate me and I hope that it shows in my literary work.
Some authors that inspire me are Neil Gaiman, Cormac McCarthy, David Moody, Philippa Gregory, Max Brooks, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Richard Matheson, William R. Forstchen, Carrie Ryan, Stephenie Meyer and Lisa Smedman.
Also, almost more than anything I love nature and this beautiful planet that I live on. I just wish everyone else did too....
