Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers

Cover Inspection:
I never liked the cover of the first book.
I still don't like the cover on this one.
SUMMARY (from GoodReads):
Luc Cain was born and raised in Hell, but he isn’t feeling as demonic as usual lately—thanks to Frannie Cavanaugh and the unique power she never realized she had. But you can’t desert Hell without consequences, and suddenly Frannie and Luc find themselves targeted by the same demons who used to be Luc’s allies.

Left with few options, Frannie and Luc accept the protection of Heaven and one of its most powerful angels, Gabe. Unfortunately, Luc isn’t the only one affected by Frannie, and it isn’t long before Gabe realizes that being around her is too…tempting. Rather than risk losing his wings, he leaves Frannie and Luc under the protection of her recently-acquired guardian angel.

Which would be fine, but Gabe is barely out the door before an assortment of demons appears—and they’re not leaving without dragging Luc back to Hell with them. Hell won’t give up and Heaven won’t give in. Frannie’s guardian exercises all the power he has to keep them away, but the demons are willing to hurt anyone close to Frannie in order to get what they want. It will take everything she has and then some to stay out of Hell’s grasp.

And not everyone will get out of it alive.

LOCATION/SETTING:
On earth, the story is set in Haden. Somewhere near Boston, I guess. And there were scenes in Hell too. I have to say I liked those parts. The story is set at or about the time the first book ends.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
The book continues the story of Frannie and Luc. Like in Personal Demons, the story is told is different points of views. Now this time, three persons tell the story - Frannie, Luc, and Frannie's twin brother Matt. The book starts with Luc being human, as willed by Frannie. Matt is struggling at being a good guardian angel to her twin sister. Then of course, there is Gabe. The story became complicated when a certain girl named Lili enters the scene.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
Okay... I really hate being all spoiler-ish, but something will happen to Frannie and Luc's relationship. Just when they are ready to take it to another level, something/someone (I'm not saying who) does something that destroyed the trust between them. Hence, Frannie turns to Gabe. But then, Gabe cannot give in for fear of losing what he is. Then there is the trouble of King Lucifer going after all of Frannie's loved ones. She blamed herself for all the bad things that happened to everyone she loves, and basically went catatonic in this book. The book ended with a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER.

LOVE:
I loved Frannie and Luc's scenes. It's like they cannot get enough of each other. Their scenes are so hot it's beyond what I can take for a YA book. Whew. Anyway, their mind tells them one thing, but their heart another. I love Luc in this book, a conflicted, self-sacrificing, love-drunk former demon. The book is actually about LOVE, that it can make impossible things possible.

NO LOVE:
This is tricky because The book dragged on for the first half. I couldn't wait for it to end. The first few chapters are kind of boring actually. Nothing happens. All talk, no action. But the book did get exciting at the second half. I also found the Frannie / Luc / Matt point of views confusing at times.

FAVORITE CHARACTER:
I have to say Luc. Believe it or not, I felt his love for Frannie. He is sincere and genuine, despite what he is.

FAVORITE LINE:
"You’re such a coward, you know that? I can’t figure out how you survived in Hell all this time.”
MUSINGS:
The book is okay. I still like the first one better. But of course, I'm still going to read the third book! The cliff-hanger saved it. Also, there were scenes that are not suitable for younger teenagers. There were actually some girl on girl action. I have to satisfy my curiosity.
