[Day Seven of 31 Days] Paperback Giveaway + Guest Post: Alexia Purdy, author of Interim Blue

It's now Day 7 of the 31 Days, and I cannot believe it's already been a week since October started. Anyway, for today, Alexia Purdy is visiting The Fairytale Nerd to talk about LOVE & FAERIES, and there is also another PAPERBACK giveaway! Everyone, please welcome Alexia Purdy!

Living in Las Vegas, NV! Trying to fit in the writing in between taking care of my four kids and working as an RN. I read more than I write but enjoy both extremely. I can only write while listening to music and late at night works best. Urban Fantasy and Poetry are my specialities and extreme loves!***

Love and Faeries

After reading dozens and dozens of faery(fairy) related stories, I find the continual theme of charming humans into falling in love with them. Do faeries really love? Is their world nothing but imagined faery glamour? It’s impossible to say, I believe that they are not that different from us humans really. They probably are more fragile and therefore, more prone to jealousy, obsession and manipulation than us mundane humans are. How else would you explain the need to charm humans into their world, to fall in love with them and become virtual slaves to them? They trick us, charm us, and enslave us. Have you every really read any faery stories that really end happily?

Some describe the fae as a dark race with unimaginable powers and tricks up their sleeves. It’s no wonder they are a dying race. Do you think us humans would last very long if 100% of us were conniving tricksters with power enough to warp the world? Ya, I didn’t thinks so. Amazingly, the fae are repelled by manmade things like cities, iron and anything not of nature. You would think that such nature loving creatures would be kind, simple and loving. But isolation and resentment has done a number on them. I don’t really think they are capable of love, for lack of a better explanation. It’s all just ‘faery glamour’. So next time you walk past a faery circle in the forest or are offered a sweet fruit from a suspicious looking pixie, I say look away and run far, far away as fast as you humanly can.

Interim Blue
by Alexia Purdy
Shade is just trying to graduate high school. Just another ordinary teenager with some quirky talents. One day, the bothersome voices she sometimes hears in her head bring her to a chance meeting with a powerful faerie warrior named Jack. He wields electrical currents and blue fires along his skin. Joining him, she enters the mysterious, frightening and magical world of Faerie, where nothing is what it really seems to be.
Shade is selected by the Seelie Queen to fulfill a quest to obtain a liquid magic that could aid the Guildrin Court of Faeries in an ongoing war against the evil Unseelie Queen and her treacherous Lonares soldiers. Around every corner and across breathtaking landscapes of the world of Faerie that exists alongside our ever so mundane world, Shade grows along with her magic and meets some of the most powerful warriors Faerie has to offer. Shade battles evil dryads, conniving Teleen guards and challenges on her life with every step. In a world where nothing is taken for granted or underestimated, Shade discovers that she might not be as weak as she or others may have perceived.
