[Book Blogger Appreciation Week Interview Swap] ALLISON, the blogger behind the book blog The Allure of Books

Everyone please welcome ALLISON, the blogger behind the book blog The Allure of Books!

About Allison

My name is Allison. I’m in my twenties, and I live in Oklahoma. I hope that someday I will actually finish getting my Masters Degree in Library Science. Reading is kind of a big deal to me. So are really nerdy things like mock duels in wizarding robes.

Although I’ve been a reader as long as I can remember, Harry Potter basically owned me as I was growing up. Nothing will ever replace those books on the top of my favorites list. Other favorites of mine include Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell, The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson, Persuasion by Jane Austen…the list goes on and on. I have a loved it shelf on Goodreads with all my highest recommendations.

I really will read any book that sits still long enough. My favorite genres are fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and all types of young adult…but I am willing to try anything at least once.

If I’m not reading, I’m probably doing something really awesome like hanging out with my best pal:

Interview:

JoAnne: What is your favorite book? Why should people read it?

Allison: All time favorites would be the Harry Potter and Anne of Green Gables series - but I feel like those are such disappointing answers because (for good reason!) everyone mentions them. So, other than those...

My favorite book is The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Everyone should read it because it has a little bit of everything! Magic, growing up, romance, music, university, enemies, gypsies...and perhaps the most surprising: some of the most gorgeous, lyrical writing you will ever
come across.

JoAnne: What is the worst book you've ever read? Why didn't you like it?

Allison: I hesitate to name books that I just felt were plain BAD - because I'd feel like a jerk. So, as far as books that I seriously disliked that a lot of people love? The first that comes to mind is Atonement by Ian McEwan. CAN'T STAND IT. The characters...plot...all of it. Boring.

JoAnne: Which do you prefer: digital copies or hard copies of books? Why?

Allison: I love digital copies of review books, because I don't have to worry about figuring out where to take/who to give ARCs to so I can get rid of them. I LOVE having hard copies of books I enjoy though. There is something very satisfying about seeing them lined up on shelves.

JoAnne: What is the one thing you do not like about book blogging?
Allison: D-R-A-M-A.

JoAnne: What do you do when you're not reading?

Allison: I'm pretty much a homebody, so I enjoy things like cop TV shows and killing time on YouTube.

JoAnne: Tell me one weird reading quirk that you have (that you are willing to share). :D

Allison: I can't stand reading outside. So many people tweet pictures of themselves by the pool or on the beach - you'll never catch me doing that! I'm not sure what it is exactly, but ugh. Just can't do it.

JoAnne: Thank you for visiting my blog!

Allison: Thanks so much for having me on your blog, JoAnne!
