Book Recap: Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Cover Inspection:
Rose. At one point in the story, Alex said she loved roses.
Seth gave her a rose. Seth said she smelled like roses.
*swoon*

SUMMARY (book description based on GoodReads):
There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

LOCATION/SETTING:
Initially set in the North Carolina Covenant. Then the characters travel to New York.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
Alex, of course. Still as stubborn and as defiant as ever! But in this book, the reader will notice the change in her. Her powers as the Apollyon are emerging, and she is having a difficult time handling it.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
There are so many things happening in this book! Alex is having nightmares now, and it seems that Seth is THE solution to it. The other students at the covenant are afraid of her because of her mother. More than that, a daimon attacked a pure inside the covenant. Plus, the council imposed rules that seem unfair to Alex. And! Alex is slowly realizing that she is actually in love with Aiden, the boy she can't have. But Seth is growing on her too.

LOVE:
I love that Jennifer beautifully tortured Alex in this book - one blow after another. If one would compare the first book to the second, one could say that things have gotten heavier and more serious for Alex. It makes me very eager to see how she will rise above it all. What made this book all the more interesting is that it was Seth who was there to pick up the million and fifty pieces of her broken heart. In this book, you will see a side of Seth that will make you change your mind about him, if you didn't like him in the first book. Yes, he is arrogant, overconfident, and obnoxious, but he actually cares and he stands up for what he believes in.

More than that, he makes Alex feel "things."

*naughty smile

I like that Aiden gets Alex feel all warm and fuzzy, but it's Seth that makes Alex horny. The connection between the two of them was just so intense, and their make out sessions in this book will make you look like a tomato.

That grappling session with Seth? Oh my. That pool make out scene? Ohhhhh my...

*feminine sounds*

NO LOVE:
Oh gods! Probably the ending! I was so engrossed with the book, the ending seemed to pop out of nowhere. BOOM! I'm like, that's it?

FAVORITE CHARACTER:
I love them all!!! But it was Seth who stood out in this book. I would have to say that Pure is his book. Aiden was present, yes, but it was Seth who hogged the spotlight, at least for me. Seth is just... electrifying!

FAVORITE SCENE:
Seth twisted up, rolling me onto my back in one fluid motion. Hovering above me, he used one arm to support himself. Only our legs touched, but it still felt like… well, like every part of us was still touching. “Angel, that’s like Apollyon foreplay right there.”
“For real?”
“For real.” He reached out and brushed a strand of hair off my cheek.
I swallowed. “I didn’t know that. My bad, but that’s kind of weird. Usually takes more with most guys.” I had no idea why I just said that.
Seth’s fingers trailed over my cheek, down to my chin. “Does it, Angel? Well, what does it take?”
This was probably a conversation not to have with Seth, especially when he was practically lying on top of me. “I think you of all people would know.”
His hand slipped to my neck. “I have a secret to tell you. It’s not Apollyon foreplay; I’m just messing with you. I have no clue what that was.”
MUSINGS:
Seth, Seth, Seth.

When i began reading this book, my focus was to get to know Seth better. He intrigued me in Half-Blood, and I was so eager for him to appear at chapter one of Pure! To my dismay, he did not appear in the first chapter. He appeared about four chapters later! But man! It was so worth the wait. I LOVE all the scenes with Seth, despite his attitude, or probably because of it.

Wow. Another wow. Yet another wow. This book is amazing. It's fantabulous. It blew my mind. Its the perfect mish mash of action, humor, sarcasm, and yes... romance. Jennifer's storytelling prowess just never ceases to amaze me. I couldn't stop reading this book. I didn't want to leave the world she has weaved for her readers. It pulled me so tight I didn't let go of this book until the very last page. It sucked me in. I don't even know why YOU (yes, you!) are wasting your precious time reading reviews when you can spend it reading Pure! Go. Now!
