After losing Sarah, the friend he’s loved, to some other guy, Jameson meets Sky. Her Native American roots, fluid movements, and need for brutal honesty become addictive fast. This is good. Jameson needs distraction – his dad leaves for another woman, his mom’s walking around like a zombie, and Sarah’s new boyfriend can’t keep his hands off of her.
As he spends time with Sky and learns about her village, her totems, and her friends with drums - she's way more than distraction. Jameson's falling for her fast.
But Sky’s need for honesty somehow doesn’t extend to her life story – and Jameson just may need more than his new girl to keep him distracted from the disaster of his senior year.

Dream Cast

I try to have someone in mind when I start writing - sometimes it's a celebrity or a musician. And sometimes it's someone I know . . . Those I keep to myself, lol.

It took me forever to find the perfect Jameson. I was long done with the novel before someone struck me the right way. Every time I thought of someone, I'd look at the pictures, and they weren't quite right. Part of the problem is that I see Jameson with a shaved head for swim team, and it's hard to picture some of those cute guys without their hair. And when I did find guys with shaved heads, more than not were also covered in tattoos. BUT I finally found him.


Carlos Pena from Big Time Rush. He's such a cutie. He has that great complexion, and even though I'd be very sad to shave off his hair, it was short enough that I could picture it.


Sarah, in my mind, is the all-American sweet, girl. She's bubbly and happy and excited about silly things, and not embarrassed to be excited about the every day stuff, and the going to college stuff. Julianne Hough has the perfect large eyes and fun smile that I think Sarah would have.


I went through a few people for Sky, but Julia Jones in this picture especially, is completely, and totally perfect. Hair. Cheekbones. Stature. LOVE her.

About Jolene

Jolene grew up in Wasilla, Alaska. She graduated from Southern Utah University with a degree in political science and French, which she used to teach math to middle schoolers.

After living in Washington, Utah and Las Vegas, she now resides in Alaska with her husband, and two children. Aside from writing, Jolene sews, plays the guitar, sings when forced, and spends as much time outside as possible.

She is also the author of The Next Door Boys and the upcoming Knee Deep.
