The Nerd's Word #4: Waiting On The Debutantes by Cora Harrison + Swooning Over Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready

"Waiting On" / On My Wishlist:

A book I cannot wait to get my hands on.
hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine & Book Chick City

The Debutantes
Expected publication: August 2nd 2012 by Pan Macmillan Childrens
It’s 1923 and London is a whirl of jazz, dancing and parties. Violet, Daisy, Poppy and Rose Derrington are desperate to be part of it, but stuck in an enormous crumbling house in the country, with no money and no fashionable dresses, the excitement seems a lifetime away.
Luckily the girls each have a plan for escaping their humdrum country life: Rose wants to be a novelist, Poppy a jazz musician and Daisy a famous film director. Violet, however, has only one ambition: to become the perfect Debutante, so that she can go to London and catch the eye of Prince George, the most eligible bachelor in the country.
But a house as big and old as Beech Grove Manor hides many secrets, and Daisy is about to uncover one so huge it could ruin all their plans—ruin everything—forever.
I haven't read a book that is set in the 1920s. I haven't read the one by Jillian Larkin yet. So I really don't know what to expect. But there are three words written on the blurb that caught my eye, and those are: London, Prince and manor.

And don't get me started on the cover! THAT is just GORGEOUS. Will the story be just as good though? Hope so.

What are you waiting on?

Swoon:

Lines and/or scenes from a book that made me swoon
hosted by the girls at YA Bound

This week I am swooning over SHINE, the last book in the Shade Trilogy, by Jeri Smith-Ready. There were A LOT of swoony moments in this book, and it's all due Mr. Swoon himself, Zachary Moore. I love him. He's definitely one of my favorite YA boys.

Twitter Version (140 Characters or less):
“Hey, have you ever seen the aurora borealis?”
He gazed at me. “Not with you.”

Cheater's Version (extended):
“The sky!” I pointed to the crystal black expanse above us, then spied the North Star, Polaris, much higher than I’d ever seen it. “I forgot the stars would be in different places.”
“Did you really?”
“No.” I grinned at Zachary over the roof of the car. “That was one of the things I was looking forward to most. Does that make me horribly geeky?”
“You’re asking the wrong person.”
“Hey, have you ever seen the aurora borealis?”
He gazed at me. “Not with you.”
