That Tuesday Thingy #5: A Teaser from Enchanted by Alethea Kontis + Top Ten Books Written In The Past 10 Years That I Hope People Are Still Reading In 30 Years

Enchanted
“Will you read to me again tomorrow?”
If her ridiculously large smile didn’t scare him off, surely nothing she wrote could. “I would love to.”
“And would you ... be my friend?” he asked tenuously.
The request was charming and humble. “Only if you will be mine in return.”
Grumble’s mouth opened wide into what Sunday took to be a froggy grin. “And ... if I may be so bold, Miss Woodcutter—”
“Please, call me Sunday.”
“Sunday ... do you think you could find it in your heart to ... kiss me?”

Top Ten Books Written In The Past 10 Years That I Hope People Are Still Reading In 30 Years

One. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
I know that Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code is the more popular of the two, but I actually think that Angels and Demons is better and far more exciting, plot wise. There was more suspense in Angels and Demons, while Da Vinci focused on the mystery about Sophie's lineage.

Two. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
This book was a required reading in my Asian Literature Class when I was in high school... forever ago. I loved it then, and I still love it now.

Three. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Do I really need to explain why? I don't even know why I bothered including this book; it WILL be read in 30 years.

Four. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
I don't read many books about death and dying. It's just too depressing for me, but I would have to say that If I Stay should be one of the exceptions. It is well written and sends a beautiful message about life.

Five. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Funny, romantic, and poignant, this book made me cry, laugh, cry harder, and laugh harder.

Six. The Demon King (The Seven Realms Novels) by Cinda Williams Chima
I love fantasy books, and I have read a lot of fantasy books, and I can say that this is one of the best there is. If you want me to behave, then the best and the surest way to do so is to give me a fantasy novel of any kind and character. Cinda William Chima's Seven Realms kept me occupied for days, rendering me useless and incapacitated to do anything worth doing.

Seven. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
The only reason I put this book here is because of the very musical way it was written. The writing is beyond gorgeous.

Eight. The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Clare is a genius. The way she weaves her novels in such a way that all the characters and events in one series are related in another series. Plus, her stories will draw every reader in. It's entertaing and addicting.

Nine. Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
This is probably one of the most underated books I've ever read. For those who don't know, Wildwood Dancing is a fantasy book, a fairytale retelling of The 12 Dancing Princesses and The Princess and The Frog.

Ten. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
I've read this book a long time ago, and way before the movie was made. I have always been intrigued by Japanese geishas and this book provided me with a glimpse into their world.
